365 + 1 STORIES AROUND THE SUN

5th ANNUAL ART EXHIBIT SHOWCASES CREATIVITY OF CHICAGO YOUTH

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY, 29, 2020 | REVEL MOTOR ROW

BUILD will hold its 5th Annual Art Show and reception on Saturday, February 29, from 6 to 9 pm at Revel Motor Row, 2400 S. Michigan, Packard Ballroom. Designed as a celebration of youthful artistic voices from our city’s most underserved South and West sides, the show includes a combination of art donated by local community artists as well as work from BUILD’s own youth - young people ages 12-24+ who have learned in our innovative Arts Academy programs how to cultivate their own creative spirits and execute an artistic vision.

Through BUILD’s studio art training, our young people have found powerful ways to express the challenging realities of their lives, while also celebrating their own extraordinary potential and resilience.

Thank you to our sponsors!

Calling all Artists!

Be part of the BUILD 2020 Art Show!

Each year we ask artists for pieces to be donated and auctioned off to benefit our Art Academy programs, as part of our celebration of creative voices in our community. Join us! Pieces can be connected to this year’s leap year theme of the Gift of Time, “365+1 Stories Around the Sun”, which takes the occasion of this Leap Year to remind ourselves that we write the story of our lives everyday. Each spin around the sun, we decide 365 times what story to tell.

Every four years we save up enough time to make up a new beginning: a whole extra day. It's the most precious and impossible gift: a gift of more time. What would you do with the gift of an extra day, an extra hour - something familiar, something new? Who would you spend it with? Someone you've lost, someone you've always wanted to meet? What do you hope others do? You are welcomed to join us and reflect on BUILD's mission - engaging vulnerable youth in schools and on the streets to help them resist violence, realize their potential, and contribute to our communities.

All we ask that all submissions be delivered to BUILD (at 5100 W. Harrison in Chicago) by February 14, 2020. For more information contact Ricardo Miranda at ricardomiranda@buildchicago.org or Carmen Scott Boria, carmenscottnboria@buildchicago.org
