Our Integrated Services

BUILD services range from one-time violence interventions to intensive, ongoing work with youth.  Regardless of whether a young person engaging with BUILD needs a little structure and encouragement, or deeper, more long-term support, we offer a full range of integrated programs and services that help young people build skills and confidence; make healthy and productive choices; find their interests and passions, and shape their future–all with the guidance of caring adults invested in their success.

Two popular and effective program areas include:

BUILDing Healthy Futures works to improve the mental and physical health of BUILD’s youth and their
families through increased access to health care and holistic services that include health education, exercise,
support groups, recovery from trauma, increased access to healthy foods, and enrollment in affordable health care.

  • Physical Health: Specialists work with youth to create healthy habits through a curriculum that teaches about nutrition, fitness, and overall health. Youth have the opportunity to participate in various sports activities to increase their fitness level. In addition, program staff ensures youth and families have access to affordable healthcare.
  • Mental Health: Specialists work to create a safe space for youth impacted by trauma, social emotional needs, substance use/abuse, and psychological issues through one-on-one counseling sessions and/or support groups based on their needs.

In start-up year, more than 150 youth engaged in assessments, clinical services and physical activities.

The BUILD Arts Academy uses the arts as a vehicle to help at-risk young people address social-emotional issues such as trauma, build skills, and connect with opportunities for college and career preparation, leadership development, and community engagement. The Arts Academy also works to positively impact our communities through beautification of public spaces, a free community art show, increased collaboration among community organizations, and a reduction in youth crime.

BUILD is asking for your support to help 60 youth participate in our BLOCK 51 summer arts program!
